United Way Volunteer Nominee

Dan Hedtcke
2018 United Way Community Volunteer Nominee

Dan Hedtcke is one of two Farley Center volunteer beekeepers. Dan, along with Patrick Norby, helped create the Bee Program and he has helped with educational events when we have students/visitors at the Center to educate about the importance of honeybees.

The work of our beekeepers is important to help promote small-scale, sustainable beekeeping in Wisconsin. Dan (and Patrick) provides guidance to people who are interested in learning beekeeping. Bees are important to our future and training, educating others is vital in saving the bee population. The volunteer beekeepers are different than some of our other volunteers because they are in charge of running the beekeeping program and without their leadership we wouldn’t have a beekeeping program.

Dan is enthusiastic and passionate about our bee program. He has worked with our UW Badger Volunteers and some of the Grow Academy students who come out to the Center. He has also led a honey extracting day for the community.

Thank you Dan.
