Kalev has been living in Madison since 2013, and volunteering at the Natural Path Sanctuary nearly as long. He studied psychology and philosophy at Naropa University, and spent several years as a mental health service provider, working primarily with youth.

Kalev grew up on the East Coast. From 2006-2008, he served in the Peace Corps in El Salvador. He has lived in Oregon, Colorado, and other parts of the United States. He currently serves on the board of directors of Younge Drodul Ling, a Tibetan Buddhist organization.
