From Within, Outward

Katherine Steichen Rosing

My piece is a continuation of my “Ripples” series, begun shortly after 9/11, as a meditation on our thoughts and actions, affirmative and adverse, moving both inward towards contemplation, and outward affecting others we may not ever meet.

I crave the peace and solitude that I find in nature – interludes amidst the cacophony of life. In my art, I strive to conjure the mystery, saturated calm and deep reflection I experience when spending time in forests, and peering into lakes and ponds.

Katherine Steichen Rosing is an artist and teacher. Her art has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in museums and galleries throughout the United States and abroad, and is included in numerous collections internationally. Ms. Rosing has also taught studio art courses at colleges and universities for over 20 years in Madison and Chicago.
