Harvesting Unity: Community Mandala Project

October 29, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Join Sarvodaya USA at the Farley Center for Peace, Justice & Sustainability in Verona on Oct 29th to help us create Madison’s first community-constructed earth mandala!

Bring the whole family to help us build and also experience Sri Lankan and Tibetan food and dancers, local music, kids mandala craft area, henna body art and group meditation lead by members of the Madison Buddhist community.

See below for details and list of events.

How It Works:

A week prior to the event, our team of volunteers will forage for natural fall materials found in our community, backyards, forests, etc. We will use the materials we find to inspire the shape of our mandala. Our team will build a skeleton of the mandala, but we need your help to fill in the gaps and create a unique art piece. Our mandala is symbolic of uniting diverse people together and holding space to pay respect to each other and the world we live in.

What is a Mandala?

“A mandala is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Indian religions, representing the universe. In common use, “mandala” has become a generic term for any diagram, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically; a microcosm of the universe.”
